Small hostel in the middle of the village

Den Gungande Gåsen

[The Swinging Goose]

We are a couple who love to create cute environments, eat good food, take leisurely walks and watch English detective stories.

The old woman often wears carpenter's trousers and gloves when she commutes between vegetable gardens and geranium cuttings ....often with a book in her ear.

The old man looks a bit grim but rarely bites. With sawdust in his hair and dirt under his nails, he walks around with a hammer and philosophizes.

We have completely renovated our guest cottages so that family, friends and guests can enjoy our surroundings. Together with other entrepreneurs in the area, we hope that you will find the right package of experiences. In the Järnavik area, we help each other and have close collaborations.

We offer:

  • Accommodation for up to six people

  • Provide bicycles (for residents)

  • Provide conoe (for residents)

For real hotel breakfast we recommend Pensionat Järnavik a couple of hundred meters morning walk away. Please book the day before. If you otherwise lack some goods for a simpler breakfast or something else, just ask.

Dogs are welcome in the Small Cabin and are greeted with water at the gate. Animals are not allowed in other rooms.

Park along the long stone wall. Park so that garbage trucks and other trucks can easily pass.Park along the wall.

Sustainability thoughts

This is how we think

We think it's a lot of fun to work with what you got. We reuse everything from pieces of wood to food scraps. That is why you will find shelves of old cots in the interior and outside you will find baskets with plant clippings that will end up in the compost.

We want to use what's available as long as possible, even if it's things made of plastic. When we create something new, we try to think long-term. That's why, for example, we still have the plastic paint that previous owners painted on the houses, even though we would have liked to have changed the panels and had traditional flour paint. However, it is not a defensible measure.

We try to find new additions of gadgets locally. With neighbors, in local flea market groups or in local shops.

We prefer to buy food from the local grocer. Then we like to grow a lot ourselves...but we still have a lot to learn there.

The electricity we use for both heating, hot water and other electrical items is 100% fossil-free and currently comes from Bixia. Of course, we only have the heat on when needed and we dry laundry on the clothesline outside or on the stair railing inside.

We ourselves prefer to travel by train, but locally it will be a petrol car until we can afford an electric car.
